Boots are currently running a deal whereby if you spend £50 in store you can get a box of goodies worth £50 completely free! As a make up fiend this was very easy to do, so here’s a quick roundup of what’s included.
First up is Soap & Glory ‘Arch de Triumph’ brow pencil and highlight in the shades ‘Taupe’ and ‘Buff’. I wasn’t expecting much from this as brow pencils can be very hit and miss, however, the shade was a perfect match and the waxy consistency means you can’t overdo it and end up looking like you’ve got a couple of caterpillars on your face! The highlighter also gives a gentle lift to the brow bone, just remember to blend it in!
The No7 ‘Airbrush Away Primer’ had a very nice consistency and went smoothly onto the skin, there is a light, almost sun cream scent to it but this goes away after applying. I’d say it’s a good primer though, does what it says on the tin but I’d recommend using Nivea Men Post Shave Balm instead.
This is the Mark Hill ‘XL Volume Amplifying Serum’, now as a long time sufferer of really bad hair (I’ll write a blog post someday) I expected good things, but I have to say I was not impressed, the serum has quite a thick consistency and a light orange-y scent, but for me there was no noticeable difference in volume which is quite annoying when you’d literally give anything to have good hair!
Now this is probably hands down the best face scrub I’ve ever used! This is Botanics ‘Purifying Face Scrub’. Okay so I don’t know about you but have you ever used one of those face scrubs that’s a bit ‘nothing-y’ like if anything it’s more of a face wash? Well this isn’t one of those products, you can actually feel the gritty bits in it so it feels like it’s doing something. It leaves my skin lovely and soft and even better it uses plant extracts, so the product you’re putting on your face isn’t just full of chemicals.
There’s not much to say about the Soltan ‘Once Face’, it’s an SPF for your face. It has the typical sun cream smell, it leaves a bit of a sheen but presumably it does a good job of protecting your face from the sun’s rays…
And last but not least is Champneys ‘Citrus Blush Enlivening Body Lotion’, the scent isn’t really my cup of tea but it’s a citrus-y, woody kinda smell. It feels very luxurious though and sinks into the skin quite quickly which is always a must for a body lotion/moisturiser.
