My Festival Makeup Essentials

Okay, so some people are probably gonna think ‘essentials? All of that is essential?’ And I’d say ‘trust me pal, it could be a lot worse!’

So I’ve tried my best to reduce the number of products I plan to take with me and I’ve chosen cream products as they are much easier to blend with fingers and this reduces the amount of brushes I’ll need to take. Let’s face it, nobody wants to be faffing around in a tent trying to find a brush that’s gone missing.

Okay so for face products I’m taking:

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation with comfort serum

SEVENTEEN Miracle Matte Pressed Powder

My DIY Rainbow Highlighter

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

Mini Benefit Porefessional

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch in 002 Radiant Rose

Green glitter and fix gel left over from uni that I bought from a fancy dress shop

Mini Benefit High Beam

SEVENTEEN Instant Glow Tan Cream Bronzer

Everything can be blended in with fingers apart from the rainbow highlighter and face powder and personally I’d rather blend foundation with a brush, I just prefer the finish it gives. I’m planning on going quite heavy with highlighter and glitter some days, because when else can you get away with looking like a colourful glitter ball?! Also cream products tend to do better in heat as a mixture of powders and sweat (bleugh) can make the skin look quite clogged and not very nice.

This is my first time using a cream bronzer/contour but I couldn’t go without and risk looking like an egg. It comes out quite orange but as long as you only use a little and thoroughly bend it in, it’s all good.

For eyes and brows I’ll be taking:

Soap & Glory™ Thick & Fast HD Mascara High Definition Collagen*Coat

Avon SuperShock Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Black

Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Dark Brown

Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl in Blue (can’t find this online as it came in a Christmas set)

Thick and Fast is a fairly decent mascara for building up volume and I’m wanting fluttery voluminous lashes so this is why I chose it. Brow drama is two products in one for me, it fills in and hold eyebrows in place. I don’t think it does a great job at creating fuller looking brows but it’ll do as it saves me quite a lot of space than if i were to take a powder, a brush and a gel to hold it. I can’t not mention the blue eyeliner either, again like glitter or rainbow highlighter, it’s not often you can get away with wearing something so colourful! 🙂

Last but not least, lip products:

Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti

Just a fairly standard lip balm, this one happens to be Fairtrade (recommend lip balm in a tube though, for less mess!)

A slightly worn looking Soap & Glory™ Sexy Mother Pucker™ Gloss Stick 3D Volume Lip Shine in Nudist

I chose hydrating/sheer products just in case it gets quite hot, I want something moisturizing and I don’t want my lips to feel heavy like they might do with a liquid lipstick. I though orange would be a great clash with blue eyeliner, and it’s a good opportunity to wear it as any other time I feel it’s a bit ‘OTT’. Lip balm is just a must-have anyway and I chose a nude just in case the rest of my make up looks quite heavy and I need something to tone it down.
