Autumn/Fall Picks

Hello my little pumpkins! It’s well and truly Autumn now, there’s a chill in the air and the leaves are beginning to turn. So that means it’s time to update our makeup bags and introduce some darker colours! My picks for this season are matte plum-y/dark red lipsticks, brown-y bronze eye shadow and glowy skin.

In terms of lipsticks my favourites, from left to right, are: MAC Diva, Rimmel Kate Moss 107 and Topshop Beguiled. Now I will admit that all 3 do look quite similar and do have a very similar finish however Diva is slightly darker, 107 is slightly red-ier and Beguiled has a slightly more pink tone to it. I’d recommend using a lip brush to apply all 3 as darker lipsticks can be harder to tidy up if you make a mistake.

For eyes I would use Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On bronze, this cream eye shadow makes the perfect base for a dark smokey eye look, or blended out for a light wash of colour on the lids. The beauty of this product is that it looks like you’ve made more of an effort with your eye look when really you’ve just got one product on. For best results apply with your finger and then use a fluffy brush in the crease to get rid of any harsh lines.

One of my favourite highlighters is Benefit Highbeam and since I’ve started using sponges to apply make up I’ve found cream highlighter to be better than a powder, it looks less chalky and blends into the skin much more easily which overall gives a more natural looking glow. I like to use the little brush inside the pot to dot along my cheekbones and then I use a sponge to dab it into the skin. Also this is only a mini and has lasted me ages, so it works out as quite a good investment.

Lots of love

Liv x
